Dr. Tri Maharani

Doctor / Toxicologist / Snakebite Community Responder

Dungus Lung Hospital

(Malang, Indonesia)

Dr Tri Maharani specializes in emergency medicine and has a PhD in biomedical science. Tri is in charge of the emergency department at Daha Husada hospital in Kediri, East Java and one of Indonesia’s leading experts on snakebite.

Since 2012, she has provided many courses, seminars and workshops aimed at building the knowledge and capacity of healthcare professionals, communities and the public in Indonesia. Additionally, due to a lack of capacity across the country on snakebite, she provides emergency consultation and case management support in real-time to healthcare workers and first responders around the country voluntarily and alongside her full-time job.

Tri is President of the Indonesia Toxinology Society and a council member of the Malaysian Remote Envenomation Consultancy Services (RECS). She was a member of the WHO’s Snakebite Envenoming working group tasked with developing the WHO global roadmap strategy in 2019.

Tri survived COVID-19 after volunteering to serve at a COVID-19 facility in April, 2020 and has since set up a COVID-19 survivor group to fight against stigma faced by survivors and their families.
